Our Story
As a psychotherapist and a parent of a young adult with ADHD, I've seen firsthand how hard it is to find the right kind of support. Schools can't provide the individualized attention these young people often need. And while therapy is the right fit for some, especially when families are in crisis or mental health is the focus, many teens and young adults don't need or want therapy. Like my son, they make more progress with a flexible, practical, non-clinical approach focused on their goals. I have a deep appreciation for the power of psychotherapy, but it is often not the right approach for young people who are struggling with organization, motivation, and focus.
A pragmatic and adaptive approach
Our coaching practice offers this more indvidualized approach. We can tailor coaching and tutoring to your situation, allowing us to be effective in ways that schools and mental health clinics cannot. Our approach taps into a pool of talent that these more formal settings miss: bright, experienced coaches and educators who are exceptionally skilled at working with young people. We find great coaches who match the needs of your situation.
A focus on the whole person
My background as a therapist informs our practice: assessments that go beyond a narrow skills checklist to understand the full person, coaches who are matched carefully with clients, and a practice built on clear, honest communication with families and coaches alike.
Costs
We balance providing flexibility for our clients with providing fair compensation for the exceptional coaches and tutors that we work with.
After a free consultation, we charge a one-time fee for the assessment provided by Ben Endres, PhD, who is the director of the practice. This assessment includes some brief surveys and in-depth discussions with the parents and the teen/young adult (often 90 minutes in total). We provide oral and written feedback based on the assessment, recommended resources, and a specific plan with targeted goals. This assessment is personalized (not cookie-cutter) and adds value on its own, whether or not you end up using our coaching. The fee for the assessment and individualized plan is: $250.
Weekly coaching or tutoring includes a 45 minute meeting and text or phone check-ins each week. We ask for a 12-week commitment* because that is often how long it takes to see meaningful change and consolidate new skills. The fee for coaching/tutoring is $100-$130 per week (depending on the experience of the coach).
*Although a 12 week commitment is usually the best plan to start, we can offer other arrangements depending on the situation of our clients.
